Finish This...

The BEA is proud to have supported the delivery of the English National Opera‘s "Finish This..." project within a number of Luton schools. This nationwide project invites pupils to become ENO composers as they work together to complete an unfinished operatic piece which has been specially commissioned for young audiences and entitled "Blue, Red, Yellow". Working together in the composer role, pupils experiment with music, colours and text to create their own ending.

As one teacher stated: " ‘Finish This...‘ has completely raised the profile of composing in our school.  It was the most exciting, project which broke down barriers and was completely inclusive."

A number of BEA Trustees were fortunate enough to attend in-school presentations at Surrey Street Primary and Bushmead Primary and a very special opportunity for pupils of Hillborough Junior School who performed in the Jubilee Room of Parliament. We were impressed and delighted by all of the children in all three schools, by what they had created and learnt about music making in general and opera in particular. A unique musical adventure for them which will hopefully inspire!
